Rajasthan is made for road trips. The royal highways that once carried maharajas' processions now carry curious travellers through a landscape of golden forts, blue cities, and camel-dotted deserts. This 7-day route from Jaipur to Jaisalmer is, in our experience, one of India's finest drives.

Jodhpur (Day 3): The Blue Fortress City
Drive from Jaipur to Jodhpur (about 5-6 hours). The Mehrangarh Fort is a revelation — one of the most impressive forts in India. View the blue houses of Brahmpuri from the fort walls. Don't miss Jaswant Thada at sunset. The Clock Tower area has great street food.
Udaipur (Days 4-5): Romance by the Lake
Drive via Ranakpur Jain Temples (a detour worth every minute). Arrive Udaipur. Take the evening boat ride on Lake Pichola — the Lake Palace floating in the middle is breathtaking. Day 2 in Udaipur: City Palace, Jagdish Temple, Saheliyon Ki Bari. Evening Dharohar folk dance show.
Jaisalmer (Days 6-7): Desert Magic
Long drive (6 hours) but absolutely worth it. The golden sandstone city glows at dusk. Stay inside the Jaisalmer Fort (a UNESCO Living Fort) for an unforgettable experience. Evening: camel safari to Sam Sand Dunes. Watch the sun melt into the horizon over the Thar Desert. Overnight at a desert camp.
